Chadd

Working with nature.

I favor cultural and mechanical techniques of landscape maintenance to keep your property healthy, balanced, and interconnected between the landscape features and the natural processes effecting it.

Chadd Hippensteel Landscape Designer
Installing a plant community. I am interested in connecting people to native plants, improved habitats for birds and pollinators, and to other wild spaces with many creatures.

Doing all kinds of artwork.

I paint “en-plein-air,” a French word meaning “outside,” landscapes. Sitting outside with a place, capturing it’s general feeling helps me distill a surrealistic, abstract look to my painting. I work with a combination mediums, from acrylic to watercolor and dry-pastel.

Planning It Out

Landscape Design Perspective

My landscape designs blend plants and stone as an abstraction of the landscapes that they represent.

Plant Communities

Goldenrod Meadow
A state-maintained “Goldenrod grassland” ecotype, with seasonal perennials and grasses.

Maintained plant communities, certain planting groups like grasslands and shrublands, are what I strive to install, maintain, and help your property achieve. This is because they are more ecologically beneficial, lush and healthy, and can be less intensive to maintain.

Town Charrettes

Learning computer skills, design processes, and conceptual narratives, we addressed issues in stormwater management, equitable open space access, complete streets, and social outdoor spaces.

Low Maintenance Landscapes

Retrofits and landscape installations do not need to be more work. Here’s how.

Creative Stonework

I learned stonework from my father, Maurice Guimond of Juniper Hill Landscaping. Together, with him and his crew, we have built countless walls, patio’s, and seating areas from granite and other natural stone.
