Three/Seater Pine Bench

This Christmas, my uncle Russ, my dad Mo, and a helper named LuJu, started a pine bench with me from a downed tree.

The recent wind storms have felled many Eastern White Pines. At my parents property in Barrington, NH, this fallen tree is the only solid-through log.

I can’t speak fir the others, but I am an inexperienced woodworker. I had fun whacking my thumb a lot, and with Russ’s / Mo’s sage advice, the log began to resemble a bench.

Here I am, chipping away at the seats.

Despite a full day of chipping, we were nowhere near done, and needed the space for a socially-distanced gathering. We flipped the bench over as a seat, and took pictures sitting on it.

After Christmas, the log was still heavy with water weight. It dried on a table by the wood stove for weeks, and then finally used a nice Stiel saw to shave off the bottom half. Legs and bracing are built from broken shovel and broom handles.

This leg went to the job site, this leg went broken and we we we all the way home

After the bench grew legs, and became a welcome addition to the workshop, we invited others to have a seat!

This bench is unique. It has individual bucket seats like a race car, a baseball bat leg, and has not been treated with an epoxy resin.

Unique pine bench. $499
